fnatic in narrow win over wNv.cn
fnatic were made to sweat to overcome wNv.cn in the first Counter-Strike stage match, seeing off the Chinese side 16-14.
wNv.cn had the home crown on their side, but that did little in the way of helping them in the first half as they found themselves down 12-3 at half time after fnatic had shown a very consistent T side.
fnatic managed to get the opening two rounds as CT, and it looked like it would not take them too much time to get the full three points, but wNv.cn found a lifeline as they claimed several rounds in a row for the delight of their fans.
The Swedish giants eventually set the score at 15-8, but wNv.cn were determined not to let the match go easily, winning the next four rounds before fnatic made it 16-12.
The last two rounds went to the home side but the three points remained with fnatic, who have moved to the top of Group B on six points.
After the match, fnatic star Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund conceded his side should have got the win much earlier but reiterated the importance of bagging the three points.
"I'm really surprised that it got that close, after our 12-3 T side," he told HLTV.org "We really should have won 16-3, but they played well as T. We won and in the end that is what counts."
